Toothless is a fictional dragon character from the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise, first appearing in the 2010 film of the same name.
He is a Night Fury, an incredibly rare and powerful dragon species known for their black scales, speed, and intelligence. In the film, he is shot down by Hiccup, a Viking teenager, and loses half of his tail fin.
Hiccup, initially intending to kill Toothless, befriends him instead and creates a prosthetic tail fin that allows the dragon to fly again.
